Did you know that as many as half of all British people are self-conscious about their smiles? In fact, many are so self-conscious of their teeth that they may even keep themselves from smiling, or will cover their mouth with their hand when laughing. Most of these insecurities stem from yellowed, cracked, or otherwise damaged teeth.

This, of course, is no way to live a happy life, so what options are available to make teeth look better? To get the Hollywood smile that many obsess over, composite bonding, London, can be an easy and affordable option. However, you may be wondering what composite bonding really is and if it’s the right option for you.

Luckily, you’ve clicked on the right article to have all of your composite bonding questions answered. Here, you’ll learn all about how composite bonding works, the composite bonding cost, and if it’s the right option for you to achieve your smile makeover.

To begin, let’s take a closer look at what composite bonding is about.

What Is Composite Bonding

There are many dental procedures that can fix the appearance of cracked, chipped, or yellowed teeth. Some of these procedures include crowns and veneers, however, these procedures can be very costly. If you can’t afford these options for your teeth, does that mean you’re out of luck?

Not at all. If you don’t have the funds to buy yourself veneers or crowns, dental bonding is a very affordable option in comparison. More than that, the end result will more or less look the same: you’ll have white and attractive teeth that you’ll no longer be self-conscious about.

However, how is composite bonding different from getting veneers or crowns?

Understanding Crowns and Veneers

Crowns protect and improve the appearance of damaged teeth. When getting crowns, your dentist will place them over your damaged teeth, much like a cap. First, however, your tooth will be sanded down so the crown can fit snugly over it.

Crowns are usually done when usual fillings can’t fix your degree of tooth damage. When getting veneers, your teeth need a little sanding down, transforming their shapes into small stubs, much in the same way as when you get dental crowns.

However, the veneers, instead of covering your entire tooth, attach with a concrete adhesive to the front of your tooth stub. This will give you the same look as crowns when it comes to achieving those rows of pearly whites.

While both of these procedures can help you get natural and healthy-looking teeth, there are a few downsides you should keep in mind. Besides the price tag, a major disadvantage is that they can take a long time to complete. For example, with veneers, it may take weeks just for the veneer moulds to arrive at your dentist’s office.

The procedure of applying the veneers themselves can take several hours. Crowns can take equally long to get, if not longer.

If you have a busy schedule, the idea of taking such huge chunks of time out of your life will not be a very attractive option. This is where we can take a look at the many benefits of composite bonding teeth instead.

How Does Composite Bonding Work

Composite bonding, as the name suggests, uses a kind of material known as composite resin. Your dentist will choose the resin to match your tooth colour or it will be a bit whiter so it can have the best effects on your smile. A major benefit of this composite resin is that it can be used immediately.

Because of this, there is no need to wait weeks for moulds of your teeth to be processed and sent back to your dentist to create certain shapes to apply to your teeth. If you’re worried about saving on time, this will be a great relief for you. However, how can you get natural and beautiful teeth without dental moulds?

The trick is with the composite resin itself, since it is highly mouldable, as long as it doesn’t dry out. Because of this, your dentist can shape it into any form to cover your teeth and produce a more appealing dental form. You might be wondering if your teeth will need sanding such as with crowns and veneers.

The answer is no. The only preparation your dentist will need to complete is roughing up your teeth a little with a sander. The shape of your teeth will not be altered.

The use of the sander is necessary, because by roughing up the surface of your teeth, the composite resin will be able to stick better. This will lower the risk of the composite bonding falling or chipping off at a later time.

Because the sanding is very superficial, it should not be painful. You won’t need to worry about being put under by anaesthesia as is usually the case when getting crowns or veneers. This is great news, because you will be able to drive home from the dentist yourself.

What Should You Expect From The Composite Bonding Procedure?

You already know that your teeth need sanding when getting your teeth bonded, but what else should you expect? After your teeth get roughed up, your dentist will add an adhesive to the surface of your teeth. This adhesive is non-toxic, so you won’t need to worry about any adverse health effects from the adhesive.

The next step up applying the composite resin to your teeth. Your dentist will be able to sculpt the resin into the desired shape so your teeth can look as natural as possible. The resin can be applied over an entire tooth, or it can be used to fill in a chip or crack in your teeth.

Once the resin is applied, to help it dry and harden, the dentist will usually shine a UV light over your teeth. As the resin is drying, the dentist can continue to shape the tooth if you’re not quite satisfied with the results yet.

Depending on how many teeth you want to have bonded, the procedure can take anywhere from half an hour to a couple of hours. However, because of the simplicity of dental bonding, you will require far fewer visits to the dentist. In fact, after you get your teeth bonded, you will likely only need to have yearly dental check-ups to make sure your teeth and composite bonds are both in good health.

You will certainly see an impressive difference regarding your composite bonding before and after. No matter whether you get only a few teeth bonded or all of them, you’ll always see a great improvement.

Is Composite Bonding a Good Choice For You

At this point, you may be asking yourself, “I’m interested in composite bonding near me, but how do I know if they’re a good option for me?” While dental bonding is an ideal choice for many, there are some cases in which dental bonding may not be a good option.

For example, if you suffer from severe tooth decay, composite bonding would not be a good choice for you. This is because composite bonding will not help the health of your teeth, since they only help to improve the appearance of your teeth. Applying composite resin to decaying teeth would only mask the problem.

It’s best to make sure your teeth are in good health before attempting any cosmetic dental procedure. If you have any cavities, your cavities will need to be drilled and filled before applying composite resin.

If you ignore your cavities when opting for composite bonding, your cavities will become a much more serious problem later on.

If you are missing a tooth, dental bonding would not be a good choice for you. This is because, since you are missing a tooth, there will be nothing to apply the composite resin to. Instead, dental implants are recommended.

Composite bonding can be great for chipped teeth. However, if your tooth is severely chipped, composite bonding may not be able to fix the appearance as much as necessary.

Also, consider the colour of your teeth. Composite bonding can help improve the colour of your teeth, but it may not be the best option if your teeth are very yellow. Since your dentist will try to choose composite resin that is most similar to your natural tooth colour, if you want whiter teeth, be sure to make this clear before you go through the procedure.

This depends on exactly which treatments are undertaken. You may only need one or two minor treatments, which can be completed within a single appointment. Your dentist will always use the most conservative and least-invasive treatments available to achieve the desired result. If you need treatments such as structural repairs or teeth straightening, your smile makeover may take several appointments to complete. Invisalign teeth straightening at Dentist@W2

Misaligned teeth can affect your confidence, your bite and even your speech. Yet many patients are reluctant to explore the idea of having their teeth straightened, perhaps because traditionally the only option available for orthodontic treatment was metallic, fixed wire braces. Those traditional braces are not for everyone – they can be uncomfortable, restrict your diet and look unsightly.

Thankfully, there is now a modern alternative that is highly effective at straightening your teeth without pain, embarrassment or inconvenience. At Dentist@W2, we are trained and certified in delivering the Invisalign teeth straightening system and have invested in cutting-edge technology so that our patients can receive the full benefit of this modern, highly-effective treatment.

What is Invisalign?

The Invisalign teeth straightening system is unique. Most of our patients choose it because it is so discreet: it is transparent, meaning that it is very difficult for others to see it. It is also easy to remove, allowing you to eat and drink whatever and whenever you choose (as long as the aligners are kept in place for at least 22 hours each day), and can be easily kept clean.

Gradually, over the full course of your treatment, Invisalign will gently move your teeth into the desired positions to give you a beautifully aligned smile.

How does Invisalign work?

Invisalign treatment involves fitting a series of transparent aligners over your teeth. Each aligner is slightly different to the last and will gently move your teeth closer together, further apart or into a straighter position as required. The process is gradual to minimise discomfort and the ultimate effect is unrivalled.

At your first appointment, an impression or scan will be taken of your teeth, from which a series of aligners will be carefully designed. Once your initial aligner has been fitted, you will then be seen periodically to have the next aligners in the series fitted one at a time to continue your treatment programme. How many appointments you need will depend on the number of aligners required to achieve the desired result.

The aligners are made from a strong, thermoplastic material that fits comfortably over your teeth. The aligners are bpa free and completely safe.

At Dentist@W2 we have invested in a state-of-the-art technology, which maximises the efficiency and accuracy of the Invisalign treatment. We can create perfect, bespoke aligners and, using the clincheck software, we can also show you what your teeth will look like at the end of your treatment programme.

Will Invisalign work for me?

We are trained and highly experienced in delivering Invisalign, and part of our skill lies in being able to accurately assess whether this treatment will work for you. It is a very popular treatment because it is so discreet and effective, and it is an excellent means of correcting:

  • Crowded teeth
  • Overbites
  • Gapped teeth

It is suitable for adults and older teenagers, and must be kept in place for at least 22 hours each day.

Invisalign may be suitable even if you have bridges, crowns or a TMJ condition – we would invite you to a free consultation to determine whether you are a good candidate for Invisalign teeth straightening. If, for some reason, Invisalign will not be suitable for your teeth, we would then discuss with you a range of other options that are available that will help you to achieve the same result.

How long does the Invisalign system take?

The length of treatment time depends on the degree of correction your teeth require, but over the course of the treatment your teeth will be gradually and gently re-aligned to create a beautiful smile and perfect bite. Your dentist will be able to give you a more accurate estimate of how long it will take to complete your treatment.

It used to be that if you never had orthodontia, or if you did and your teeth still settled back into their old pre-treatment disarray, you had few options. You could get implants, or you could get the same old “railroad tracks” that you wore as a child. Many adults were reluctant to go through that pain, expense, and embarrassment again.

Invisalign changed all of that, allowing people of all ages to achieve sparking straight teeth without the heavy hardware. However, if you choose to get Invisalign, you need to adhere to a few simple rules if you want to have the full benefit.

Here are 7 Invisalign tips to help you get the most out of your invisible braces.

1. Change your Aligners Regularly and in the Right Order

Invisalign is a treatment where you wear a set of plastic removable trays on your teeth over a relatively brief period of time; patients usually wear Invisalign for about 12-18 months to achieve the desired results.

Your dentist will work with you to create the customized set of trays for your teeth which are changed every few weeks as your teeth start to move.

In order to get the teeth you want, the best Invisalign tip you need to follow is to listen to your dental professional. They will fit you and provide the appropriate trays at the right time for your mouth and rate of treatment.

You may want to rush through the treatment and try wearing the tightest trays first. Listen to your dentist! They have been trained in this specific treatment and know what will work best for you to get the smile you want.

2. Wear Invisalign 22 hours Per Day

The most important Invisalign tip to follow is to wear these devices for the prescribed amount of time. Usually, dentists recommend that they be worn between 20-23 hours per day. They should be removed during meals and to brush your teeth.

Of course, many people do not want to wear braces, invisible or not, or a job interview, date, or other important occasions. The whole attraction of this product is that they are removable.

It is possible to take out your Invisalign if you need to feel extra confident and don’t want to worry about them for a few hours.

However, if you really want to get the full effects of Invisalign in the shortest amount of time possible, wear them as prescribed.

3. Floss Regularly

Recent studies have claimed that flossing regularly does not necessarily prevent cavities. The dental community still disagrees over how much is enough and how effective this practice is overall.

However, if you wear Invisalign, it is important to floss regularly. The plastic which covers your teeth in this mode of treatment means that bits of food can easily get trapped between your teeth.

They do not get washed out with saliva and drinking fluids as easily as they would if you did not have these shields over your teeth.

If plaque and bacteria are left to fester underneath the trays, you will develop cavities, gum disease and other problems that will require more dental care beyond teeth straightening.

While dental professionals can give you a full smile makeover to address problems beyond just straightening, why not prevent problems by flossing regularly for the cleanest, prettiest mouth possible?

4. Pay Attention to Dietary Guidelines

The dental professional who guides you through your Invisalign treatment will give you a set of rules to follow to further protect our teeth.

Just like when you wore the old-fashioned braces, you will be advised to avoid very sticky foods like gum and taffy. Because Invisalign often uses attachments to the teeth, very sticky foods can pull off those attachments. This will require another trip to the dentist and a delay in the eventual smile that you seek.

Your dentist may also advise that you stay away from foods that stain your teeth, like coffee and colas.

5. Learn to Speak With Them In

You may find you have some trouble speaking clearly the first time you put on your Invisalign trays. This is perfectly normal. Most patients get used to the trays quickly and learn to overcome any slurring or lisping they initially experience.

Because you need to wear Invisalign for up to 22 hours per day, you shouldn’t take them out every time you expect to be speaking with someone, This would significantly diminish your wearing time, and thus reduce their efficacy.

Most people will not notice you are wearing anything on your teeth at all. The sooner you get used to speaking with them in, the sooner you will be able to reap the full benefits of the treatment.

6. Don’t Be Afraid of Attachments

Sometimes your orthodontist will need to attach small buttons to your teeth to move a particular tooth or make sure the tray stays in place. These attachments may feel funny at first, but they are an integral part of the treatment.

These attachments are usually clear or white, so they will not be noticeable. They serve an important role in the Invisalign method, so don’t avoid them. Remember, they are so much better than the heavy metal rings they used to use to surround your teeth!

7. Wear Your Retainer!

If you have invested in yourself by choosing the Invisalign method, you will want to do everything you can to protect your investment. This means you must wear a retainer, even after the treatment is finished.

Your dentist will give you an apparatus to wear at night to make sure your teeth do not move into their previous positioning.

Even though you are surely excited to not wear anything in your mouth after months of treatment make sure you wear your retainer as instructed. You don’t want those months to go to waste!

Follow these Invisalign Tips for the Smile You Have Always Wanted!

Invisalign is a relatively easy and painless way to get the smile you have always wanted. Make sure you observe these simple Invisalign tips and you will be able to keep smiling for many years to come.

The UK sees approximately 10,000 private implant procedures every year. Most of the patients? Aged 65 or older.

The thing is, it costs around ?1,000 per tooth for a dental implant. That’s nowhere near being cheap.

This is also the reason people come looking for cheap dental implants. They want to save money, but many of them are unaware they’re risking their own health for it. Experts have noticed an increase in cases of infections in patients with implants, and at an alarming rate at that.

Don’t fret though. There are preventive measures and management tactics for your oral health.

It also pays to know more about the dangers of cheap tooth implants. This way, you get to decide whether they’re worth the risk.

1. Cheap Dental Implants: A Ticking Time Bomb

As mentioned above, infections in patients with cheap dental implants have increased. There’s peri-implantitis, for instance.

It’s a relatively new disease and a type of bacterial infection. It results in gum inflammation and bone loss around implants. There’s also the financial and biological costs, associated with implant arrangement.

According to Dr. Stephen Jacobs, a former Association of Dental Implantology president, studies have shown that one-third of patients are at risk of infection. And about half a million adults now have at least one dental implant.

Preceded by a much milder disease called implant mucositis, its early warning signs include red, swollen gums and bleeding. From there, peri-implantitis develops, especially when left untreated.

A dental implant requires lifelong maintenance and follow-ups. These are key to their maintenance. Sad thing is, a lot of people forget about these aftercare procedures.

Indeed, these cheap implants cost less compared to the average rates well-known and reliable doctors charge. Consider this though: The treatment of the infection will force you to shell out more money in the end.

2. Nerve Damage

Research from King’s College Dental Institute showed that nerve damage can also result from cheap implants.

Patients already suffering from nerve injuries experience even more pain due to their implants. They also face difficulties in eating, talking, and unfortunately, even kissing.

Keep this in mind: Around 1% of implant procedures have something to do with nerve injuries. This said implantologists need to provide an improved level of before-and-after care procedures to their implant patients.

Seeking a professional clinician should be a top concern when you need dental implants. Only reputable licensed clinicians educate their patients about the risks and benefits of having it done. They also make certain they get signed consent from their patients.

Cheap dental implants no longer come cheap if you suffer from these terrible injuries. Keep in mind that negligence can already result in nerve damage.

This said, make sure you choose an experienced and licensed practitioner. This way, you can rest easy knowing you’re in the hands of someone committed to providing quality implant treatment.

3. Perforation of the Sinus Cavity

Complications with the sinuses. Sounds complicated, right? Because it is, and it’s a risk you put yourself in with cheap dental implants.

This can happen when an upper jaw implant protrudes into the maxillary sinus cavity.

A break in the sinus cavity can cause mild to severe aches or tingling sensation in the sinuses. It can also lead to headaches, pain, and even severe migraines.

4. Implant Breakage or Fracture

Cheap dental implants made from cheap materials can fracture or break. When this happens, you’re in trouble. Especially if the bone doesn’t have enough strength and mass to support a new abutment screw.

And even if your bone can still support a new one, it still means more expenses on your side.

5. Integration Failure

In an ideal after-procedure scenario, the bone begins to regrow and fuse with the implant. When this happens, it provides support and secondary stability. Ultimately, it leads to the implant’s biological stability.

But this isn’t always the case. Not with cheap dental implants anyway. There are many cases wherein the implant failed within the first few weeks after the procedure.

To keep infections and other serious risks at bay, you need to correct the failed implant. But what if you sought cheap treatment far from your location? You’d have to pay up more to see one in your area right away.

This means even more out-of-money expenses. It’s why you should work only with experienced dental implantologists. They have the knowledge and skills to ensure proper osseointegration.

6. Hyperplasia

It’s also known as inflammatory fibrous hyperplasia. Basically, it’s an irritation that develops as a reaction to poorly fitting dental implants. Swelling and excess tissue around the affected area are just some of what you can expect.

Although it’s a typically painless benign condition and not a type of oral cancer, surgery is the only way to treat it. So, you may pay less now for those cheap dental implants, but you may face a lot more unnecessary expenses in the future.

7. Injury to Adjacent Teeth

Getting cheap dental implants may also put you at risk for injuries to the teeth adjacent to the implant. This occurs when the insertion of the implant is along an improper axis. It can also result from the use of an excessively larger implant.

Such cases arise from having little to no evaluation of your teeth’s history. So, when this type of misdiagnosis happens, you’re at a higher risk of oral damage.

It’s Not Always Cheap

The appeal of saving money for a single dental procedure or surgery is tempting. At the same time, it’s extremely risky. Cheap dental implants aren’t truly cheap at all if you’re going to suffer from complications afterward.

Risking your health and your emergency fund aren’t worth the “initial” savings. You may cut down your costs a bit on that one-time offer but just think about the pain and suffering that may follow.

So, act rationally and weigh your options carefully. Take as much time as you need to find the right professional. This way, you can rest assure only quality oral health services await you.

If you’re ready to have your missing teeth replaced with top-notch implants, give us a call. We’re ready to provide you in-depth and professional advice to help make your smile better.

Do you hate your teeth? Do you hide behind close-lipped smiles or untag yourself in photos?

Many people struggle with fear of tooth shame, and if you’ve always been embarrassed by your teeth, you’re not alone.

Whether you’re seeking a straighter smile or looking to make major tooth gap improvements, the benefits of Invisalign will amaze you.

Let’s get into what you need to know!

They’re Barely There

It’s in the name, but yes, one of the best benefits of Invisalign, is that they are, well, just about invisible.

Braces with coloured rubber bands may look cute on your child. On you? Not so much.

Unlike traditional metal braces, you don’t have to worry about the unsightly railroad tracks taking up room on your pearly whites.

If you work in a professional career, this is even more important. After all, braces are often one of the first things people notice. Do you really want to advertise to the entire world that you are in the process of getting your teeth straightened?

Invisalign is barely noticeable, and they don’t appear like the person is even wearing braces. You can straighten your teeth privately and happily- without anyone really even knowing.

They’re Incredibly Safe

Traditional metal braces have wire and metal that can easily get caught between your gums and mouth. If you ever wore braces as a child, you know how uncomfortable that poking and prodding can feel. It’s easy to get your lips cut or your tongue scaped.

The benefits of Invisalign are that they are relatively comfortable and smooth. There aren’t any sharp edges, and they don’t cause damage to the gums or teeth. Unlike traditional braces, the Invisalign system uses soft plastic trays.

You won’t have to call the emergency dentist for a sudden broken bracket or wire.

Increased Comfort

Professionals must remove traditional braces. It’s extremely dangerous for individual patients to attempt taking them off themselves.

If you’re wearing traditional braces and you’re teeth are hurting you’re stuck with the pain. No easy way around that.

However, one of the benefits of Invisalign is that you can take them on and off as you please. You can take them off for eating, drinking, or for any important photo opportunities.

Furthermore, it’s much easier to actually brush and floss your teeth more thoroughly. With traditional braces, patients have to worry about trapped food, which can cause cavities. With Invisalign, this is not nearly as much or a risk.

You can go ahead and brush and floss your teeth as you always have- no need to worry about going into each bracket with delicate care.

The actual process of correcting your teeth also feels better with Invisalign. The soft trays slowly and safely shift your teeth into a straighter position. That’s much less pressure than the force traditional braces put on your teeth.

Finally, you can essentially eat and drink whatever you want. There are many forbidden foods and beverages patients need to adhere to when they have traditional braces. Because you can remove Invisalign, you don’t have to worry about eliminating anything from your diet.

Fewer Hassles And Appointments

With traditional braces, you typically need to visit the dentist for corrections and tightenings on a regular basis. You may also need more intensive treatments or cleanings, as braces can jeopardize your oral health. In general, patients can expect to show up every 4-6 weeks.

This can be frustrating. Maybe you work full-time. Maybe you have a family at home that you need to provide care for. Whatever the reason, you probably have many priorities over your teeth.

Patients who choose Invisalign typically don’t need to have as many follow-ups. If you have a busy schedule, Invisalign is much more flexible than going the traditional braces route.

It’s routine that patients switch out the trays on their own. You don’t need to come back to the office every single time to get an adjustment. You just find out when you need to switch the trays, and you take care of it. Simple as that!

Less Time Overall

In general, one of the best benefits of Invisalign is that it provides quicker results than traditional braces. Of course, this figure depends on patient needs. It’s always best to consult with your dentist to receive an appropriate estimate.

With that said, the average length of treatment is just 12-18 months. Currently, the average for traditional braces hovers around 24 to 36 months. That’s nearly 2-3x longer!

If you’re about efficiency, then the Invisalign route is definitely one you should consider.

Direct and Known Results

Whether your medical professional tells you this or not, traditional braces do entail some guesswork. Nobody can truly determine what the end results will look like. Even if there is some strong assuming, you don’t actually know what your teeth will look like when the metal comes off.

Invisalign works differently. Using computerized planning, medical professionals know exactly how what your final smile will look like.

If you’re going to be spending your hard-earned money, you deserve to know the potential outcome. Let modern technology guide you, and trust the awesome benefits of Invisalign for your teeth.
